Teitur - All My Mistakes

Teitur - 'All My Mistakes' is the follow up from the Faroe Islander’s UK debut ‘The Singer’, which was released to critical acclaim. ‘All My Mistakes’ is the album that connects all the dots to Teitur Lassen’s history, combining the best songs from his previous releases onto one introductory disc. It is a bewitching collection of songs using plucky guitars, soaring strings and Lassen’s pining voice. A great combination of Scandinavian folk and clever pop songwriting.

Lyle and Scott - Spring Summer '10

Lyle & Scott Vintage is the brand of the moment. Since 2004 their trademark yellow Eagle has been enjoying a huge revival and cult following, gaining a strong presence in the UK media and band scene. Unmade Beds - Out Now

This is the story of Axl, a wide-eyed Spaniard who travels to London to search for the father who abandoned him, and Vera, a Belgian girl trying to start again after a failed relationship. Both end up in an underground squat surrounded by carefree, colourful free spirits. Eventually the pair’s stories intertwine as they embark on their individual quests. Unmade Beds is an honest, tender and heart-warming film.

Taking note from the mainline, Paul & Joe Sister retains the sophisticated French styling, the clean lines and luxurious fabrics of its grown up sibling. Animal Collective - Fall Be Kind - Out Now

Fall Be Kind is the follow up EP from Animal Collectives most critically and commercially successful album, Merriweather Post Pavillion. The EP features 5 new tracks that are every bit as beautiful as those found on Merriweather. Fall Be Kind is perhaps slightly darker and more moody than the previous album, yet still adheres to the bands willingness to push the boundaries and explore new styles and layered psychedelic beats amid ambient texture and dramatic space.

Nigel Cabourn - Mallory Jacket and Waistcoat

Next up in our Seasonal Highlights series is the Nigel Cabourn Mallory Windowpane jacket and waistcoat.

In 1924, George Mallory and Sandy Irvine headed up the Everest expedition, only half a decade after the Great War, in customised military clothing, made of British wools, cotton ventile and mountaineering tweeds, made in Scotland.

George Mallory wore a traditional three-piece Harris Tweed suit with giant sheepskin boots to accompany Irvine.

In 1999, 75 years after their attempt to climb Everest, Mallory’s body was discovered less than 2000ft from the peak of Everest in a preserved, frozen state. Mallory’s clothing, which many believe he successfully got to the top of Everest in, are now held by the Royal Geographical Society and are everlasting proof that this British fabric is all enduring.

Nigel cabourn's Mallory jacket and waistcoat pay homage to this important part of history – to the man himself as well as the islanders of the Hebrides who have woven the magical Harris Tweed cloth for centuries. Both jacket and waistcoat are exquisitely made and cut to give a modern silhouette while retaining the overall style and aesthetic of the originals and they will see you through the coldest of winter months in style and comfort.

Raf Simons x Fred Perry

Award winning Belgian designer Raf Simons is heavily influenced by youth culture and renowned for producing impeccably cut clothes. His collaboration with Fred Perry is therefore a perfect match and the latest collection has taken another distinctive turn with inspiration drawn from the various stages of metal through rusting. Blending cotton with copper and applying it to a distinctive colour palette of silver, grey and rust, the collection looks and feels genuinely metallic and is very wearable.

Disgrace - Out December 4th

This is the compelling adaptation of the acclaimed novel by J.M. Coetzee.

It is a story of a 52 year old Romantic Literature professor who is caught having an affair with a mixed-race student. Because they live in post-Apartheid South Africa this is seen as a huge scandal, forcing the professor to leave the city for a remote farm to stay with his daughter. Unable to escape the realities of contemporary society, a vicious attack by three black men leaves them re-evaluating the definitions of victim and victimizer and oppressed and oppressor. It is a powerful and disturbing film.

Manchester Orchestra - Mean Everything To Nothing - Out Now

This is the second album from Georgia, US based band Manchester Orchestra. The band seem to have honed and matured their sound and the production from Joe Chicarrelli (The Shins, The Racontours) has added a slightly heavier, gutsy guitar based level to the sterling personal, honest song writing of singer Andy Hull. Comparisons have been made to the likes of Biffy Clyro and Foo Fighters, and similarly to Dave Grohl, Andy Hull possesses a unique ability to strip almost every song back to create a beautiful and poignant acoustic adaptation.

House of the Gods - Rock n' Roll Inspired T-shirts

Founded by Buddhistpunk in 2006, House of the Gods design Rock n’ Roll inspired t-shirts and t-shirt dresses. All garments are hand finished, distressed and deconstructed with raw edges and slashed necklines framing iconic Rock n’ Roll imagery from Roxy Music album covers to Mick Jagger portraits and everything in between.

Technique Christmas Party with Wolf + Lamb - Tonight, Leeds

Hailing from Brooklyn New York, Wolf + Lamb (Zev Eisenberg and Gadi Mizrahi) are arguably this year’s biggest success story in underground house and techno. Playing a significant part in the North American scenes renaissance, they have become increasingly sought after this side of the Atlantic too with clubs like Fabric, Watergate and Arma 17 hosting their incredible sets as well as those from big name DJ’s signed to their self named label like Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss and Soul Clap.

Somewhat reluctantly, the duo are starting to receive the credit they deserve for their record label, productions, club and DJ sets. Their sound has moved from minimal to deep and is elegant and ethereal yet playful, with the emphasis firmly on having a good time; their intimate parties at ‘The Marcy Hotel’ – Wolf + Lamb headquarters and club in Brooklyn New York are the hottest ticket in town.

PPQ Quilted Patchwork Dress

In the run up to Christmas we thought it would be a good idea to turn our attention to some of the more special pieces from our Autumn/Winter collections – seasonal highlights if you will. Over the next few weeks we’ll be taking a closer look at some of our favourites from brands like PPQ, Nigel Cabourn, See by Chloe and Haversack. First up is the PPQ quilted patchwork dress.

The Mayfair based label is one of the most talked about of the moment, grabbing column inches for their luxurious and high glamour party pieces, designer collaborations, pop-up shops and cult celebrity following. The AW09 collection has been described as “Park Lane princess meets 60s style” and it shines through in this patchwork dress. An eclectic mixture of woven, silk, tartan and wool patches, it’s best worn with bright tights and heels like the models from the runway show and will add more than a bit of colour to any winter wardrobe.

Codeine Velvet Club - Codeine Velvet Club - Out 28th December

This is the band formed by Lou Hickey and Jon Lawler (better known as Jon Fratelli). Lawler takes some of the bouncing agro-pop he made his name for in the Fratelli’s and added a swinging big band with rhythm and brass for style and substance. With the addition of Hickey’s soulful vocals creating sublime duets, you are left with an Art Deco, sexy, glamorous, glam-stomp of a listen!

Although the album is not out until December, you can listen to exclusive tracks on the bandsite.

The Antlers - Hospice - Out Now

This album is the product of Peter Silberman’s period of isolation in New York.

On emerging he joined with Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci to form The Antlers and add the musical scape to his tragic story. It is a story of heartache and loss for a person suffering - and succumbing to - bone cancer, and it is told brutally and breathtakingly beautifully.

Silberman’s haunting vocals glide over ambient electronic sweeps and fragmented guitars. It is an excruciatingly brilliant album.

Edwin - Established Tokyo, Japan, 1947
